The Construction Industry remains a high-risk physically demanding workplace. Workers are required to continually handle equipment which can lead to musculoskeletal injury, worker fatigue and safety compliance failures. Small-to-medium enterprise (SME) contractors often have difficulty enforcing Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards because of their reliance on cumbersome paper-based checklists and safety software that is typically complicated and expensive. In response, Site-Ergo was developed as an interactive, mobile-responsive web portal that allows site supervisors and workers to perform instant, visual ergonomic hazard assessments directly at job sites.
The core aspect of Site-Ergo is its ability to transform traditional, static OSH guidelines into a code-free, highly visual digital portal that can be accessed immediately by scanning a QR code on a mobile device. Built using a user-centered interface, the portal categorizes common site activities and equipment and displays visual body-strain heatmaps, maximum safe operational hours, and mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements through clear graphical badges.
By transitioning away from cumbersome paper-based safety manuals to instant mobile access, Site-Ergo contributes positively to society by reducing physical worker strain, preventing long-term occupational health hazards, and promoting a proactive site safety culture. Additionally, because there are no software acquisition costs and Site-Ergo uses an intuitive drag-and-drop architecture, it has strong commercialization potential as a turnkey, subscription-ready safety portal template for SME construction firms, OSH consultancy practices, and technical vocational (TVET) educational programs.
