Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), including Malaysia’s OSH regulations and global safety standards, reflecting the industry’s growing demand for safe and compliant engineering practices. It emphasizes hazard identification and the critical responsibilities of mechanical designers in preventing workplace risks, supported by practical project work in design, documentation, and presentation aligned with professional standards required in modern industrial environments. The approach of digital tools or online learning and training for safety seems to be poor in terms of trainee information retention, motivation, and engagement. Therefore, the objective of this study is to identify and to evaluate the effectiveness of Virtual Reality (VR) safety training compared the with the conventional method. The development of VR OSH learning & training system was done via game development engines (open-source software development tools). VR headset (Oculus Quest 2) was used for simulation purposed, while VR controller (oculus quest touch controller) used as a human interaction. All data gathered from the distributed questionnaires in a survey form during pre-test and post-test (one week after the VR simulation lesson). Post-test result of both groups shows score for the small percentage different (6%), means that the learning and training via VR able to create a strong memory retention compared to the traditional method. Even thought, the passing rate of both groups has shown an increment (+12%, +16%) in every repetition learning and training. In fact, the failure rate has shown a decrement on every scene in the VR safety training (-12%and-16%), compared to the control group. Therefore, this finding show that implementation of learning and training method via VR is an excellent tool to increase the level of understanding for new user without causes workplace injuries and illnesses. Moreover, digital OSH practices promote safe and healthy working environments that in line with global industry requirements, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (Sustainable Development Goals), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
