A141: FIQHFIN-M: A Gamified Digital Teaching Aid For Enhancing Fiqh Muamalat Learning

Dr Mohd Shahid Azim Mohd Saufi Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)

Fiqh Muamalat is an essential component of Islamic finance education that equips students with the knowledge to understand Shariah principles governing commercial and financial transactions. However, students may perceive the subject as challenging due to its theoretical concepts, Arabic terminology and the complexity of contemporary financial practices. This innovation introduces FIQHFIN-M, a gamified digital teaching aid designed to facilitate interactive and application-oriented learning of Fiqh Muamalat. The innovation integrates five main components: micro-learning, interactive flashcards, gamified quizzes, Shariah decision-making activities and real-life case studies. Through the learning process of “Learn, Play, Decide and Apply”, students are encouraged to move beyond memorising theoretical concepts towards analysing and applying Shariah principles in practical situations. Contemporary cases involving riba, gharar, hibah, qard, Islamic banking, takaful and other financial transactions are incorporated to enhance contextual learning. FIQHFIN-M can be implemented before, during and after classroom sessions, providing flexibility for both individual and collaborative learning. The innovation is expected to enhance student engagement, conceptual understanding and the ability to apply Fiqh Muamalat principles to real-world financial situations. Overall, FIQHFIN-M demonstrates how gamification and digital learning can transform Fiqh Muamalat from a predominantly theoretical learning experience into an interactive, practical and student-centred learning environment.
