Due to moisture penetration, residential, commercial, and industrial buildings are susceptible to structural damage, mold development, poor indoor air quality, and increasing maintenance expenses before any visible signs appear. Traditional detection techniques depend on electronic sensors or specialized apparatus that require technical proficiency and regular maintenance. This study presents Smart Moisture Detection Paint that is used to detect early leakage at the building. This enables occupants and maintenance staff to promptly recognize affected areas without the need for electronic monitoring. An experimental method is used in this study, with a normal paint base mixed with hydrochromic pigments (pink color) and acrylic binders and rolled onto plywood surfaces under dry conditions. Then, allow the plywood to dry after applying the color. The coating will change from pink to white during wet-to-dry conditions. Thereafter, the coated plywood surface is wetted, and the plywood color is monitored. Without the need for electricity or additional sensing devices, the coating enables quick leak detection, facilitates preventative maintenance, lessens health concerns associated with mold, and decreases repair costs over time. Prospective advancements may include UV resistance to make it usable for external walls. Through ongoing enhancement, Smart Moisture Detection Paint offers a practical, cost-effective, and accessible solution for building more durable, sustainable, and intelligently overseen buildings.
