The increasing diversity of student learning preferences within Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) presents significant challenges for lecturers in delivering effective construction technology education. Conventional teaching approaches frequently employ standardized instructional methods that may not adequately accommodate the varied learning needs of students, resulting in reduced engagement, participation, and comprehension. A learning preference survey conducted among 78 diploma students enrolled in Construction Technology courses revealed that visual learning was the dominant preference (59%), followed by read/write learning (28.2%), while most students expressed a strong preference for synchronous face-to-face learning environments. These findings highlighted the need for a more adaptive and learner-centred instructional approach. In response, the VARKTeach Kit for TVET Construction Education was developed as an innovative teaching and learning toolkit grounded in the Visual, Aural, Read/Write, and Kinesthetic (VARK) learning framework. The kit integrates visual learning resources, collaborative discussion activities, structured written materials, practical learning exercises, and blended learning components specifically designed for construction technology education. The innovation aims to support personalized learning, improve teaching effectiveness, and enhance student engagement and understanding. The novelty of the innovation lies in its integration of empirical learning preference data with adaptive teaching strategies within a structured TVET instructional toolkit. The innovation demonstrates strong potential for implementation across universities, polytechnics, vocational institutions, and industry training centres. Furthermore, it contributes towards Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by promoting inclusive, flexible, and student-centred learning practices. Overall, the VARKTeach Kit offers a scalable and sustainable solution for enhancing teaching and learning effectiveness within TVET construction education.
