This structured teaching aid enhances first-year students’ spatial awareness, institutional familiarity, and social engagement through a two-week activity where they collaboratively construct a comprehensive hand-drawn campus map—detailing classrooms, computer labs, and student facilities—while identifying and documenting names of diverse personnel, including academic staff, technical staff, administrative officers, and cleaning personnel. Promoting active exploration over passive orientation, the aid integrates observational learning, exploratory movement, and interpersonal interaction to build cognitive mapping skills, communication abilities, and appreciation for institutional roles, fostering independent learning, collaboration, and a sense of belonging. Implementation findings reveal improved navigation confidence, heightened awareness of campus structures, greater social connectedness, and enhanced classmate engagement, underscoring the value of experiential, inquiry-based approaches in easing transitions to higher education.
