A143: PRESENT-REFLECT-REFINE (P2R): AN INNOVATIVE FEEDBACK-DRIVEN FRAMEWORK FOR ENHANCING ELEMENTAL COST ANALYSIS (ECA) LEARNING OUTCOMES

NOR ATIQAH MUSTAPA UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA

ABSTRACT

The conventional method of submitting Elemental Cost Analysis (ECA) assignments usually constrains students' ability to demonstrate their knowledge, participate in discussions, and receive feedback. This situation implies that misconceptions about construction concepts, building components, and cost-related concepts are likely to be identified at the final assessment stage, leaving little scope for improvement. To counter such problems, the proposed innovation, Presen-Reflect-Refine(P2R), utilizes Google Meet to facilitate the presentation-based learning process where the students are allowed to present their ECA assignments immediately while getting constructive feedback from the lecturer. The proposed innovation is capable of converting the conventional assignment submission to a more interactive, feedback-oriented, and student-centered learning activity. The students can discuss construction concepts, defend their ideas, clear their misconceptions, and improve their knowledge of ECA concepts through immediate presentations while developing their communication and presentation skills. In addition, the feedback allows the lecturer to detect learning gaps of the students on time and provide guidance for further improvement. In summary, this innovation facilitates active learning and increases the level of engagement of the students in the process of teaching and learning Elemental Cost Analysis.
