Financial literacy is a critical life skill that allows people to make informed financial decisions and attain long-term financial well-being in today’s increasingly complex financial climate. However, due to lack of real-world experience and low interest in traditional lecture-based financial education, which frequently priorities theory over practical application, many college students still struggle to manage their personal finances. This project fills this gap by introducing a cutting-edge teaching tool that makes financial education engaging and hands-on. Through question-based gaming, the goal is to improve student’s comprehension of key personal finance topics, such as budgeting, saving, investing, debt management, reserves and decision making. FinQuest is unique because it combines the classic Snakes and Ladders board game with real-world financial scenarios, structured challenge questions, and risk-and-reward mechanics that force players to evaluate situations, defend their choices and learn in tandem through involvement, as opposed to passive memorisation. This creative method fosters a pleasant and engaging learning environment while improve critical thinking, problem solving and the ability to financial decision making. In addition, FinQuest benefits society by encouraging young individuals to be financially responsible, supporting national financial knowledge programs, and supporting prudent financial practices. Additionally, the idea has great commercialisation potential as an effective educational resources appropriate for financial institutions, schools, universities and financial literacy initiatives. International versions, digital and mobile platforms, curriculum-aligned modules, and educator guides are some of the upcoming innovations that will make FinQuest a scalable, and globally adaptable teaching aid.
