PHILOQUEST: A JOURNEY THROUGH WISDOM AND TIME

Philosophy is often perceived as an abstract and difficult subject, resulting in low student engagement, passive classroom participation, and limited opportunities to apply philosophical concepts to real-life situations. To address these challenges, PhiloQuest: A Journey Through Wisdom and Time was developed as a digital storytelling and gamified learning platform that transforms philosophy into an immersive educational adventure. Learners journey through ancient civilizations, including Greece, China, and Egypt, while interacting with renowned philosophers, solving ethical dilemmas, completing logic-based quests, and making decisions that encourage critical reflection. The innovation integrates storytelling, gamification, and inquiry-based learning to promote active participation and meaningful knowledge construction while exposing learners to both Eastern and Western philosophical traditions.

 A pilot implementation involving 31 university students demonstrated positive learning experiences. Participants reported increased engagement, motivation, enjoyment, critical thinking, conceptual understanding, and positive learning experiences. Open-ended responses further indicated that the interactive gameplay, storytelling, visual design, problem-solving activities, and learner-centred approach made philosophy more accessible, enjoyable, and relevant compared to traditional teaching methods. Students also highlighted that PhiloQuest encouraged independent learning, creativity, reflection, and deeper understanding of philosophical concepts.

 Beyond philosophy education, PhiloQuest demonstrates strong potential for wider educational adoption. Its scalable digital design enables integration into schools, higher education institutions, and online learning platforms, while its framework can be expanded to disciplines such as ethics, history, and other humanities subjects. By combining educational content with engaging gameplay, PhiloQuest offers an innovative, sustainable, and impactful approach to cultivating critical thinking, moral reasoning, and lifelong learning for the digital generation.
