A92: ECONOMICS DYNAMIC GAMING EXPERIENCE (E.D.G.E)

Dr. Nor Samsinar Kamsi Universiti Teknologi MARA Perak Branch Tapah Campus

This Economics Digital Gaming Environment (E.D.G.E) is a platform that transforming education through an expanded multi-gamified learning hub aligned with course outcomes. It offers an advanced interactive gamified platform developed to elevate economics education in higher learning institutions. In addressing the critical pedagogical challenges of low student engagement, abstract theoretical complexity, and limited alignment with Bloom's Taxonomy in traditional economics teaching, E.D.G.E expands upon the original three (3) games framework (Quick Econs Game Hub) into an eleven 11 chapters interactive hub. Each chapter features a custom designed arcade or puzzle game ranging from Fruit Ninja and Subway Surfers adaptations to Tower Defense and Piano Rhythm challenges that specifically mapped to fundamental microeconomic and macroeconomic topics. The innovation explicitly aligns each gamified experience with Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) spanning cognitive levels C3 (Applying) and affective levels A3 (Valuing), alongside essential soft skills including critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong learning. A comparative quantitative analysis was conducted between the baseline 20252-class cohort (N=50) utilizing the original 3-games hub and the 20262-class cohort (N=52) utilizing the enhanced E.D.G.E platform. The mid-term test results demonstrate significant academic improvements with the class pass rate reached 100.0% (up from 92.0%), top performers (A+ grade) increased dramatically from 12.0% to 26.9%, overall top performers rose from 22.0% to 34.6%, and the mean overall score increased from 62.3% to 65.9% (median: 68.5% vs 63.5%). These findings confirm that multi-mechanic gamification effectively bridges abstract economic theory with practical problem-solving while driving student mastery.
